The ionic breeze quadra does work in silence. The only time it makes noise is when it needs cleaning, which gives out hissing sound. Cleaning is also very simple. You simply use the enclosed cloth or use a wet sponge, slide the cleaning rod upward and downward a few times, and let the rod dry before putting it back into the quadra housing. Caution: do let the rod drys completely before putting it back into the quadra.

How often do you clean the quadra is depend on your environment. In general, my kitchen unit get clean more often than my bedroom units. When you plug in your quadra, you can literally smell the ozone odor produced by the ionic breeze -- the type of smell of the outdoor air after a rainstorm.

When you buy the new unit, you can get a second one for half of the price which make it more affordable. Also they will also ship a bathroom unit to you at no cost. This bathroom unit does not give you a distinctive odor as the full size quadra because it is small and is best for bathroom or closet.

As the quadra does not use any filter to collect dirt, pollen and dust, it saves you about $150 just on the filter alone. It also consumes low energy and that will also saves on your energy cost as well. Many of sharper image's customers said their allergy is lightened after using the quadra in their home. Ionic Breeze Independent Review for Ionic Breeze GP with Ultraviolet Germicidal Protection.

Basically ionic breeze GP cleans the air by trapping viruses, tobacco smoke, airborne bacteria, allergens, dust and other contaminants on permanent, stainless steel collection blades just as the quadra. They also trap larger-size particles include mold spores, pollen and dust.

The main difference is that the Ionic Breeze GP has a built-in Philips Ultraviolet Germicidal Sterilamp. This lamp helps to kill a wide variety of airborne bacteria, mold and viruses that circulate into the unit.

Another difference is the size of the collection grid. The GP has a larger collection grid than the Quadra, about 20% larger, so it requires less frequent cleaning.

This Ultraviolet Germicidal Sterilamp is the same one that is used in the hospital to kill germs. The lamp lasts for about 8000 hours, which is almost a year's life before it is needed to be replaced.

The new quadra features more cleaning power, a five-minute "Boost", removable easy-clean grills, generating negative-Ion in the air flow, and the power-safe controls.

These improvements come with an additional price difference of $50.00 per quadra.

Out of the five new features added, the most important addition is the ability to generate negative-ion.

Negative-ion has good health effect on our body. If you want to know what negative-ion is, imagine you are now at the Niagara fall. The rushing water at the Niagara fall creates lots of negative-ion. If you have been to Niagara fall, you will remember how fresh the air you breath when you were there.

Personally, I think the five years warranty is good enough. (It was three years warranty just a couple years ago). New renovation may come along which you might want to take adavantage of. But of course, you should decide what is best for your situation.

Ionic Breeze Independent Review for the Extra Collection Grid?

This is again, in my opinion, not neccessary. The collection grid is very sturdy and should work well at all time. But the extra collection grid does come in handy when you are cleaning your quadra or gp. Since the collection grid needs to be completely dried before you can put it into your quadra or gp, the extra grid lets you use your quadra or gp without having to wait for the grid to get dried completely.
